Crowbar/Chopper resistor is mainly used in the low voltage riding through technology of inverter of wind power generation. It is used in the rotor side of the wide power generator. When low voltage disturbance occurs in the grid, it prevents the overvoltage of DC bar and overcurrent of rotor. It mainly works when fault occurs. Crowbar resistor can consume 80% of energy instantly. Generally CROWBAR is designed to be small resistance to protect when releasing large current in case of fault of the grid; besides, the low voltage ridding through of wind power generator is also materialized in Crowbar. It is mainly used in large energy discharge at the moment of low voltage ride through in the field of wind power generation.
